Recruitment background:
As the research department expands, we are looking for research and development members (fermentation field) with academic and industrial experience. While based in Okinawa, it is important to establish close cooperation and cooperation with Indian research teams and production teams. This position reports to the Chief BioResearch Officer.

Specific job description
- Design, execute, and optimize microbial fermentation processes from laboratory scale to pilot scale to industrial scale
- Scale up laboratory-scale fermentation experiments to pilot plants and commercial production scales
- Solve issues related to fermentation and propose effective solutions
- Achieve research and development goals and schedules while maintaining independence and coordination as part of a team
- Maintaining accurate records of experiments
- In line with EF Polymer's upcycle mission, we lead design and development so that biotechnology-based processes can be efficiently and economically expanded from laboratory level to large-scale industrial level
Prerequisites:
- PhD in biotechnology, microbiology, biochemical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience in fermentation research and development
- Sufficient experience in fermentation technology and bioprocess development
- Proven experience scaling up fermentation from lab to pilot/production scale
- Excellent time management, organization, and problem solving skills
- Those who are cooperative and can actively work in a dynamic startup environment
- English (basic conversation level), Japanese (business level)
- Execute overseas business trips as needed

Position Overview:
We are seeking a scientific scientist with strong academic and industrial experience to join our research R&D team. Based in Okinawa, Japan, this role will involve close collaboration with our research and production teams. Occasional travel to India—where our main factory is located—may be required to support scale-up activities and technology transfers. You will report submitted to the Bio-Research Lead.

- Strong background in biomedical technology and bioprocess development.
- Increasing experience scaling up developing from lab to pilot/production scale.
- Japanese (business) and English (basic/conversational).
- Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Required to travel required.
Preferred Preferred:
- Experience operating or working with involved bioreactors or industrial fermenters.
