[Case Study] Maximizing fertilizer efficiency! Effects of “fertilizer runoff prevention” with EF polymers

Now that issues such as soaring fertilizer prices and soil contamination due to chemical fertilizers are spreading, demand for efficient use of fertilizer, reduction, and runoff prevention is increasing. Our product “EF Polymer,” which is a super absorbent polymer (SAP), is characterized by a high water retention effect, but it also holds fertilizer“Fertiliser retention”There is a function called Most fertilizers are water-soluble, and while they often leach underground before being absorbed by crops, EF polymers absorb fertilizer content,Retaining fertilizer for a period of time and at the same time slowly supplying nutrients to the soilYou can do it. As a result,Reducing the amount of fertilizer appliedIt also leads to.

Here are a few examples of fertilizer efficiency improvements that actually use EF polymers!

Case ① Komatsuna (Yamagata)

Objective: Reduce water retention/fertilizer runoff in sandy soils and increase yield

Photo from left without polymer & fertilizer, fertilizer only, fertilizer & polymer 2g, 4g, 6g, 8g, 16g

[Experimental method]
Design a test zone with control zone (no EF polymer & no fertilizer), fertilizer only, fertilizer +EF polymer 0.2.4.8.16g

[Results]
Weight increased 27% in the test area where 8g of EF polymer was applied. Also, the amount of liquid excreted liquid and the amount of nitrate nitrogen in the effluent decreased. The amount of runoff decreased in response to increased EF polymer application.

According to the experimental results, by applying EF polymerThe effect of preventing fertilizer runoff can be obtainedI understand that. Also,Keeping fertilizer in the soil promoted crop growth and increased yield. However, as a point to keep in mind, if too much polymer is applied, the soil surface tends to harden, soKeep an appropriate amount when usingThis is important (recommended amount is 0.5% to 1.0% of soil volume).

Case ② Paddy Rice (Okinawa)

Objective: Increase fertilizer holding capacity and increase yield

[Experimental method]
Tests were conducted in 2 compartments: the ward where EF polymer is applied to seedlings and during planting, and the ward where EF polymer is not included

[Results]
By using EF polymers even in paddy riceImproved fertiliser holding capacity and 16% increase in yieldThe result was obtained.

Case ③ Spring corn (India)

Objective: Improvement of fertilizer use efficiency/water utilization

[Experimental method]
Tests were carried out by changing the application doses of EF polymer and fertilizer

[Results]
Where tests were performed by changing the amount of EF polymer and fertilizer used, where EF polymers were used,Cut fertilizer by 15% and still increase yieldI was able to do it. Among the regions where experiments were carried out, very good results were obtained in Udaipur, with a 60% increase in yield. (normal fertilization)
