Najima, who is in charge of EF Polymer's research and development, will participate in the online seminar “Various Initiatives in Developing Countries to Properly Utilize and Conserve Forest Resources” hosted by the JIFPRO (Japan Public Foundation) International Greening Promotion Center.
As the latest empirical research case in developing countries, I will introduce a case where 100% naturally derived “EF polymers” were used in dryland afforestation in Senegal.
<Seminar Overview> ※Excerpt from JIFPRO website
The effects of climate change have been reported around the world, and there are concerns that it will accelerate due to deforestation. In order to stop deforestation, it is important to improve the livelihoods of local residents and create a system to preserve forests together with residents.
JIFPRO has carried out a demonstration activity “Developing Country Forest Knowledge Utilization Promotion Project” (Reiwa 2-6 Forestry Agency Assistance Project) in cooperation with companies and organizations to create initiatives that contribute to forest conservation in developing countries and local residents, and the results have been presented at seminars every year.
At this seminar, which is the final year of this project, we will receive a keynote speech from Kyushu University Professor Momomura Teihiko and present the results of two projects utilizing Japanese technology. Afterwards, we are planning a panel discussion with stakeholders from previous years.
