EF Polymer expands products for home gardening and gardening, and starts selling at home center “Makeman”

Aim to improve user experience and increase demand for home gardening and gardening through sustainable product proposals

EF Polymer recently announced that it has expanded a new lineup in collaboration with Makeman Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Urasoe-shi, Okinawa/ President and CEO, Junichi Miyagi, hereafter “Makeman”) with the aim of improving user experience and capturing demand for home gardening and gardening in Okinawa Prefecture. Sales of the new products will begin at 7 stores (Urasoe, Tomigusuku, Newman, Hitotsubashi, Gushikawa, Mihama, and Nago) on the main island of Okinawa. This is the first case in Japan where EF Polymer has been deployed at home centers.

The Yano Research Institute announced the market size and demand for home gardening and gardening in Japan”Survey on the gardening/home garden market (2022)According to “)”, the market size has been rising steadily since 2018. Since 2020, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, the suburban home center business type with large parking lots was supported as a shopping space where 3 crowds can be avoided, so it is considered that the gardening/home gardening market has expanded with new young customers.

Typical examples of failure for people who have started gardening or home gardening are “lack of water” and “overuse of water.” It is difficult for people who are not used to growing plants to determine the state of the moisture content of the soil, and there are many cases where they forget to give water or give more water than necessary, causing important plants to die.

About the new lineup of “EF Polymers”

As a new lineup for home gardening and gardening users, we have launched the EF Polymer 100 g package (granule/powder) and 500 g package (grain/powder). It is a small package that is easy to use even for potted plants and small fields, and is easy to pick up, and has a chic and minimal design.

Product features:

  • 100% ORGANIC: The raw materials of EF polymers are orange and banana peels. In addition to organic matter being the raw material, no synthetic chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. It has also been certified as organic JAS certification and the Green Food System Strategy.
  • FULLY BIODEGRADABLE: Since EF polymers are made from organic materials, they are environmentally friendly products that do not emit microplastics and do not pollute the soil. It can absorb 50 times its own weight in water and hold it in the soil. Water absorption and release are repeated for 6 months, and after about 1 year, it is decomposed into microorganisms and completely returned to the soil.
  • Functionality to improve soil's water retention and fertilizer holding capacity: EF polymers have the property of retaining moisture in the soil for a long period of time and releasing it slowly, and support plant growth even when water is scarce. Also, holding fertilizer in the soil can be expected to have the effect of preventing the runoff of fertilizer components.

About the event schedule at Makeman stores

In the future, Makeman plans to hold a birthday festival for each store from the end of October to the beginning of November. Also, on 11/16 (Sat) and 17 (Sun), on the 1st floor of the Urasoe Main Store, the annual”Fall Gardening Seminars” will be held. Starting with a talk show inviting young producers, Kagome Co., Ltd., S&B Foods Co., Ltd. and lectures will be held on how to grow autumn vegetables well using wakaba seeds. How to applyHere
