EF Polymer Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Okinawa; Founder and CEO Narayan Lal Gharjar; hereafter EF Polymer) announced that it has adopted its 100% organic super absorbent polymer for planting at Hollywood Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo/ CEO Ushiyama Daisuke, hereafter Hollywood). EF Polymer, a startup that has been in business for 5 years, and Hollywood, which has a long history, will cooperate to explore new possibilities for office greening.
Project Overview
It is located right in front of Hollywood's Roppongi Hills headquarters (Hollywood Beauty Plaza) and Mori Tower, which is the symbol of Roppongi, and a wide variety of plants are planted on the veranda. Hollywood, founded in 1925, has continued to innovate over many years as Japan's first comprehensive beauty company. The founder has a background of developing beauty products inspired by the power of plants, and employees who have inherited that spirit continue to carefully care for plantings even now.
Meanwhile, EF Polymer, which was founded in 2020, is working to resolve climate change and water resource issues as a startup providing sustainable solutions in the agricultural and environmental fields. This time, EF Polymer and Hollywood have introduced EF Polymer to part of the approximately 60m2 planting space at the Roppongi headquarters office. Thus, we will verify the effects of reducing daily watering burden and preventing draining on non-business days such as weekends and holidays.

Hollywood Co., Ltd. Roppongi Hills Headquarters
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is promoting urban greening and strengthening efforts aimed at “mitigating the heat island phenomenon.” Greening office areas is recommended as part of this, and many companies and local governments are actively implementing it. However, as rising temperatures and the burden of water management due to climate change become issues, sustainable greening methods are being sought. This project is also a new attempt to solve these urban greening issues.
Future prospects
Hollywood, which has a history of 100 years since its establishment, and EF Polymer, a startup founded 5 years ago. Two companies with different backgrounds will collaborate to explore the future of environmentally friendly urban greening. EF Polymer will support the promotion of greening businesses that take both people and the environment into consideration, using the case at the Hollywood headquarters office as a representative model case.

About EF Polymer
EF Polymer Co., Ltd. is a deep tech startup born in India and raised in Okinawa. Residues that have been discarded conventionally, such as orange and banana peels, are upcycled, and “EF Polymer,” a 100% organic super absorbent polymer, is manufactured and sold as agricultural materials. We also support corporate green transformation (GX) by promoting the application of fully organic polymers as raw materials for daily necessities and cosmetics. Through the dissemination of our technology, we aim to solve environmental problems centered on water scarcity.
