EF Polymer, a developer of 100 percent natural super absorbent polymers, has been selected as a fifth round company under J-Startup, a startup acceleration program operated by Japans Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry METI.

Founded in Okinawa, EF Polymer is led by Founder and CEO Narayan Lal Garjhar and focuses on creating environmentally friendly polymer solutions derived entirely from natural materials.

About J-Startup

Launched in 2018, J-Startup is a national initiative designed to foster globally competitive Japanese startups with innovative technologies and business models.

The program is jointly administered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry METI, the Japan External Trade Organization JETRO, and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization NEDO, with the goal of creating startups that can compete and succeed on a global stage.

Companies selected for J Startup receive a wide range of support, including

• Participation in major domestic and international exhibitions
• Overseas market entry and on site support
• Research and development assistance
• Regulatory and policy related support
• Expanded access to public procurement opportunities
• Collaboration with major private companies through the J Startup Supporters network

Since its launch, a total of 239 startups have been selected. In this fifth round, 31 startups were chosen nationwide.
